With the announcement in 2008 that OMHSAS plans to change the format for encounter submissions to the HIPAA-compliant 837 file layout, counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania face new challenges in complying with the more complex file format, as well as the idiosyncratic edit requirements imposed by DPW data systems. Counties can take advantage of ACA’s wealth of experience in handling person-level encounter (PLE) data submissions in order to implement necessary reporting changes in the most cost-effective manner, while still complying with DPW requirements.
