NAMI is a nonprofit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental illnesses. It provides education and support, combats stigma, supports increased funding for research, and advocates for adequate health insurance, housing, rehabilitation, and jobs for people with mental illnesses and their families.
American Public Human Services Association (APHSA)
APHSA is a nonprofit, bipartisan organization of individuals and agencies concerned with human services. APHSA educates members of Congress, the media, and the broader public on what is happening in the states around welfare, child welfare, health care reform, and other issues involving families and the elderly.
National Association of Counties
The National Association of Counties (NACo) is the only national organization that represents county governments in the United States. NACo is a full-service organization that provides an extensive line of services including legislative, research, technical, and public affairs assistance, as well as enterprise services to its members. The association acts as a liaison with other levels of government, works to improve public understanding of counties, serves as a national advocate for counties and provides them with resources to help them find innovative methods to meet the challenges they face. NACo is involved in a number of special projects that deal with such issues as the environment, sustainable communities, volunteerism and intergenerational studies. NACo understands the importance of strong public-private partnerships and is committed to assisting counties and businesses explore new, innovative ways of working together.
National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Directors
The National Association of County Behavioral Health Directors (NACBHD) is the only National voice for county and county sponsored behavioral health authorities in Washington DC. NACBHD is comprised of county and other local authorities charged with governing mental health, addictions and developmental disability services in communities. NACBHD promotes excellence in the delivery of county and county-sponsored behavioral health and developmental disability services and is committed to the well being of consumers and families in every community, the care and protection of the most vulnerable populations and strengthening of the public behavioral health and developmental disability systems.
