Interoperability, as ACA defines it, brings together independently functioning health and human services organizations to coordinate their operations and, promote meaningful communication, in order to achieve superior health care, increased administrative efficiency, smooth data exchange, and cost containment.

ACA’s vision of interoperability extends beyond the traditional definition of aligning multiple IT systems for data interchange.
